Amaya Bouquet (born Buenos Aires, 1979) began her studies in photography at the age of 15, captivated by light. In 1997, she pursued Comparative Religions at the University of Salvador, and later, she studied at the National Glass School in Berazategui, where she learned glass cutting and engraving, developing the technique that would become characteristic of her work. Intrigued by the crafts of decorative art, she studied gilding, jewelry-making, and stained glass. Currently, she attends a poetry workshop with Cecilia Pav\u00f3n and studies painting with Juan Ignacio Reos. In 2010, she embarked on a trip to Kyoto, Japan, where she explored various techniques and traditional crafts of the city. Throughout her career, she participated in workshops and art clinics led by figures such as M\u00f3nica Gir\u00f3n, Diana Aizenberg, Lux Lindner, Jorge Machi, and Alfredo Londaibere, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In her works, she expresses her fascination with various aspects of light, both in its physical and manipulable nature and in its spiritual significance. Ornamentation and noble materials are hallmarks of her work, drawing inspiration from sacred art, esotericism, symbolism, decorative arts, and fashion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She has exhibited her works in institutions and galleries in Argentina and Uruguay, as well as in unconventional spaces in London (a site-specific exhibition at the London Abbey Cemetery chapel) and Miami (design and realization of the interior of one of the bars at the Saxony Hotel Faena). Over the course of her career, she has received various awards and grants, including selection in the ninth edition of Curriculum Cero at the Ruth Benzacar Gallery (2008), participation in the Artist Program at the Torcuato di Tella University (2010), and the M.M.S.N. grant for young artists to study jewelry with Hannah Martins and high-fashion embroidery with designer Mme. Elizabeth Rulleau at Central Saint Martins in London (2011). She was also selected for the seventeenth edition of the Fundaci\u00f3n Klemm Visual Arts Award (2013).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ha realizado exhibiciones en instituciones y galer\u00edas en Argentina y Uruguay, como as\u00ed tambi\u00e9n en espacios no convencionales en Londres (exhibici\u00f3n site-specific en la capilla del London Abbey Cemetery) y Miami (dise\u00f1o y realizaci\u00f3n del interior de uno de los bares del Saxony Hotel Faena).
